Curriculum Intent

At Polam Hall School, our Computing curriculum aims to:

  • Provide students with the basic and advanced skills required to use digital technology comfortably in any situation. This includes online etiquette and appropriate use of online communication apps and tools.

  • Give students the opportunity to problem solve at all levels, including pattern recognition, decomposition and abstraction.

  • Develop pupils’ independence and critical thinking, linking ideas and concepts in the classroom to real world scenarios.

  • Students provide extended responses and have the ability to self-evaluate for future development of their work and/or programs.

  • Provide students with the knowledge and awareness of the wider impact of technology on the world including safe online conduct and the impact of e-waste.
